2024 SEC Title Odds Revealed; Where Do Longhorns Land?

The Texas Longhorns appear to be in a good position for an SEC title in 2024.

The SEC is set to get a facelift this summer, with the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners joining what is already arguably the best conference in college football.

So with that in mind, what do the early betting markets say about the 2024 SEC Championship favorites?

BetOnline suggests that Georgia and Texas are set to be the teams to beat for Atlanta.

Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian and his team run onto the field for the game against the BYU Cougars at Royal-Memorial Stadium on Saturday October 28, 2023.

Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian and his team run onto the field for the game against the BYU Cougars at Royal-Memorial Stadium on Saturday October 28, 2023.

And if that happens, it could paint an interesting path for the College Football Playoff.

If the two do indeed face off in the conference title game, the loser risks missing a top seed and a first-round bye but gains a favorable path as a 5 seed.

But beyond this marquee matchup lies a notable tier drop-off, where contenders like Ole Miss, Tennessee, Alabama, LSU, and Mizzou await their opportunity to challenge the established hierarchy.

What makes this season particularly intriguing is the unexpected rise of Ole Miss, who now find themselves with better odds to claim the league title than traditional powerhouses like Alabama and LSU. The odds speak volumes, with Alabama's current standing at +900, a figure reminiscent of the early days of Nick Saban's tenure in Tuscaloosa.

Meanwhile, Texas looks poised to become "Alabama West" with three key transfers from the Crimson Tide. Leveraging the transfer portal, they've bolstered their roster with wide receiver Isaiah Bond, tight end Amari Niblack, and linebacker Kendrick Blackshire.

Bond's rise to five-star status underscores the transformative impact of these acquisitions. With these moves, Texas strengthens its lineup, filling key positions and signaling a strategic shift that positions it above Alabama in the rankings.

Suffice it to say, as the season unfolds, the landscape of college football is set for a thrilling narrative.
