Texas Longhorns Claim No. 1 Slot in 2023 Big 12 Volleyball Preseason Poll

The reigning national champions have secured the No. 1 spot in the 2023 Big 12 Volleyball Preseason Poll for the 13th consecutive year.

The Texas Longhorn Volleyball program ended its decade-long drought of winning a national championship title last season after defeating Louisville. Looking ahead, however, where will the reigning champions land in the Big 12 Preseason Poll?

There is no question that the Longhorns would secure the No. 1 in the poll. For the 13th consecutive year and 16th time in Texas volleyball program history, the Longhorns have been voted as the Big 12 favorite per the league's head coaches, who are not allowed to cast a vote for the team they are a part of.

Texas is 182-10 (.949) in conference matches since 2011. The Longhorns even recorded three undefeated conference records of 16-0 in the years 2013, 2017 and 2020.

Last season, Texas secured its sixth-consecutive Big 12 Championship.

Here is the 2023 Big 12 Volleyball Preseason Poll:

1. Texas (12)

2. BYU (1)

3. Baylor

4. TCU

5. Kansas

6. Houston

7. Iowa State

8. K-State

9. UCF

10. Oklahoma

11. Texas Tech

12. Cincinnati

13. West Virginia

BYU, UCF, Cincinnati and Houston will be included in the Big 12 for the first time this upcoming season.

Needless to say, the Texas volleyball program has showcased dominance and consistency in the Big 12 for quite a while. The Longhorns will compete in their first Big 12 matchup in the 2023 season on Sept. 22 in Gregory Gym against Oklahoma.
