Addressing the media, Coach Schaefer expressed pride in his team for earning the top seed in the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament. He emphasized the team's resilience in the face of challenges and their ability to overcome adversity, such as injuries and close losses.

Schaefer also credited the players for their hard work and dedication, noting that they have consistently risen to the occasion.

"We've just got a lot of players playing at a really, really high level, and whether they'll be at this level with Rory still on the team, we won't know that," Schaefer said. "What I do know is that they have absolutely elevated their game to another level because of what happened, and it had to happen that way for us to be where we are today."

He discussed the upcoming challenges of facing tough opponents in the tournament, acknowledging the quality of teams like Drexel, Alabama, and Florida State. Despite the pressure of being a top seed, Schaefer expressed confidence in his team's ability to compete at a high level and emphasized the importance of taking it one game at a time.

Schaefer also praised the team's depth and the contributions of various players, particularly Madison Booker, while highlighting the importance of home-court advantage and the support of the fans.

He addressed concerns about foul trouble and emphasized the team's ability to adjust to different game situations.
