Texas Recruiting Class Ranks No. 6 Post-National Signing Day

Where the 2024 Texas Longhorn recruits rank post-national signing day.

Texas' 2024 recruiting class didn't quite hit the high mark, stepping outside the top five for the first time since 2021.

Yet, it's still a sturdy bunch, boasting top-tier talents like edge Colin Simmons, Safety Xavier Filsaime, and receiver Ryan Wingo, alongside a mix of promising 4-star and 3-star prospects.

Coach Steve Sarkisian pulled off a notable move by flipping Filsaime from Florida back in December, adding depth to a serious position of need.

And there's more: the Longhorns also locked in two impressive pass rushers from the Top247, including the standout Colin Simmons from Duncanville and Allen's Zina Umeozulu.

“I’m hopeful those edge guys contribute in a way where we can have a lot more impact with our pass rush off the edge," Sarkisian said.

These additions are set to fortify the defense, especially with a secondary that's shaping up with three Top247 defensive backs from the 2024 class.

With National Signing Day being a relatively calm affair in Austin, the focus now shifts to how these new recruits will impact the team. The anticipation is high, considering the Longhorns' knack for attracting top talent.

It's worth noting that the nine recruits in the final Top247 rankings place Texas among the elite in the 2024 cycle, trailing only seven other programs.

As Sarkisian wraps up his third full-cycle haul, there's a sense of excitement and curiosity surrounding these incoming players.

So much so, that many of them, including Filsaime and Simmons, could see extension playing time early.
