Texas Longhorns Volleyball Head Coach, Jerritt Elliott, Inducted in USA Volleyball Hall of Fame
A popular face amongst Texas Longhorns volleyball fans was inducted into the USA Volleyball Hall of Fame on Wednesday in Dallas. Texas volleyball head coach Jerritt Elliott was awarded the USA Volleyball's All-Time Great Coach Award - but what kind of success did Elliott exemplify to qualify as the recipient of this award?
Elliott began his Texas volleyball coaching career in 2001, after leading the University of Southern California's volleyball program for two years prior. Since the start of his Texas coaching career in 2001, Elliott has guided the Longhorns to an entry in the NCAA Tournament in all but one season, led the Longhorns to six Final Four appearances and snatched two national championship titles.
The USA Volleyball's All-Time Great Coach Award is seen as a recognition to individuals who have displayed excellence and success in the volleyball coaching industry over an extended time period. Elliott's 2022 volleyball season with the Longhorns fit the award's description perfectly.
With a dominating 28-1 season record in 2022, Elliot managed to claim Texas' sixth consecutive Big-12 title and rescued the Longhorns from their decade-long national title drought by defeating Louisville in the national championship game of the NCAA Tournament.
The Big 12 Coach of the Year award has been awarded to Elliott nine times, most recently for his 2022 coaching performance.
The reigning national champions and USA Volleyball Hall of Fame head coach will be back on the court in Long Beach, Calif. on August 25 to face Loyola Marymount.
