Season Finale: Kansas State vs. Texas Game Predictions
It's the final countdown in 2021. Is Texas ready to face the music?
Longhorns will close out the new season under Steve Sarkisian with a Thanksgiving weekend visit from Kansas State.
Texas has struggled throughout the majority of the year under their first-year head coach but will look to end the season with some momentum behind them heading into a critical offseason.
Thank you for sticking with LonghornsCountry.com through our season preview series, where we analyzed every opponent on the Longhorns schedule.
On Monday, we started our preview of Kansas State with an overview of the program, before previewing some of the Wildcats' top offensive superstars, as well as some of their best defensive impact players.
Now it's time for the LonghornsCountry staff to make their way-too-early game predictions for when Texas plays host to Kansas State in Austin.
Matt Galatzan - Managing Editor/Publisher
Texas enters their matchup with Kansas State at 4-7, teetering on their worst season since 1997 under John Mackovic.
However, Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns are still playing hard. And despite the numerous injuries across the board on both sides of the ball, I think they will continue to play that way.
Will it be enough? Likely not, but it will be a close one.

It's Senior Day, so the veterans will likely be putting on a show. Texas wins? They lose? Honestly, who knows anymore. Because I think Casey Thompson wants to prove he can be the future, let's go with a close win to finish 5-7.

The Longhorns are extremely banged up and my trust in them is at an all-time low this season. So, obviously, they're going to find a way to win on Saturday, right? Nope. they're not going to have an answer for K-State back Deuce Vaughn and the Wildcats are going to take it.

I think that this Texas roster is done with 2021 and looking towards 2022. The lack of effort and fight was evident against West Virginia last week. Expect the Wildcats to rely heavily on running back Deuce Vaughn who has the ability to shred defenses apart. Combined with the recent injuries, I don’t think that Texas finishes the season on a positive note.

Kansas State has been a stingy defensive team all season long and I don’t expect that to change in the season finale.
The third-best run-stopping defense in the Big 12 definitely won’t have an easy time trying to contain the two-headed attack of Keilan Robinson and Roschon Johnson, but it will all be up to Texas’ passing attack to determine who comes out on top. With Card and Thompson banged up, I can see the Horns' offensive struggles continuing on Friday.
