Colt McCoy Among Four Longhorns Set for Induction into Texas Sports Hall of Fame

Colt McCoy joins three other Longhorns set for induction into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame.

Four Texas Longhorn icons are set to join the prestigious ranks of the Texas Sports Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2024.

Football stars Jamaal Charles and Colt McCoy, along with track and field coach Bubba Thornton and softball standout Christa Williams, will be honored for their remarkable contributions to Texas sports.

The induction ceremony, presented by Texas Farm Bureau Insurance, will take place at the BASE at Extraco Events Center in Waco on Saturday. Joining them in the class are notable figures such as baseball Hall of Famer Andy Cooper and former football coaches Mike Leach and Jackie Sherrill.

Jamaal Charles, a standout running back for the Longhorns, played a pivotal role in Texas' success, including their 2005 National Championship victory. He is one of the top rushers in school history in terms of yards and touchdowns, and became the Kansas City Chiefs' all-time leading rusher during his NFL career.

Colt McCoy, an iconic Longhorn quarterback, left an indelible mark with multiple Player of the Year awards and All-American honors. He led Texas to numerous victories and solidified his status as one of the program's greatest quarterbacks.

Bubba Thornton, a legendary coach in Texas Track & Field history, guided the Longhorns to unparalleled success over 18 years. Under his leadership, Texas captured multiple conference titles and produced numerous Olympians.

Christa Williams, a dominant force in UT's softball program, led the Longhorns to their first Women's College World Series appearance in 1998. Alongside teammate Nikki Cockrell, Williams earned multiple All-American honors and played a crucial role in Texas' national success.

With their induction into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame, these Longhorn greats will forever be celebrated as icons of Texas athletics.
