MNick Saban?

 We hardly knew you.

So what if the now former Alabama football coach is close to being on GOAT Coaching Mountain by himself.

Saban stunned most of the college football world by taking his 7 national championships and riding off into coaching retirement on Wednesday night.

By Saturday night, the Alabama school plane was  landing in Tuscaloosa with new coach Kalen DeBoer as the new coach.

Roll Tide, Roll.

Greeted by a crowd at the airport, DeBoer, who does have a 9 year record of 104-12, including three NAIA national championships, heard his name chanted as he stepped off the plane.

Considering how high Saban set the bar, those may be the most cheers he hears in Tuscaloosa if the Tide drops to the 9-3 level in the upgraded Southeastern Conference.

But as Tide athletic director Greg Byrne described his new coach, "He's a winner.'

.As for Saban-look for him to be a new face on ESPN's Game Day next fall.

If Saban does well, and ESPN wins an Emmy, wonder if anyone in the world wide leader to change Nick Saban to Nick Saturn when it lists its award  candidates and then change it back to Saban if it wins an Emmy.

Last week was one of Coaching Carousel World.

In less than 24 hours, Pete Carroll (2), Bill Belichick (6) and Saban (7) with a combined 15 championships among them as head coaches, all were gone from their jobs.

That's a lot of hardware.

Saban and Belichick are buddies and the sight of Belichick being run out of New England did not sit well with Nick who could only wonder how he would be treated in Tuscaloosa if the Tide dipped to an 8 or 9 win season

Saban does have a remarkable stat that will NEVER be topped.

During his 17 year run EVERY player who stayed with the Tide program for four years, won a national championship.

Michigan coach (for now) Jim Harbaugh is shopping his skills back in the NFL, with either the  Chargers or Raiders.

Not a surprise.

Also not a surprise if the NCAA's sense of urgency in investigating Michigan sign stealing issues will fade quickly if Harbaugh heads to the NFL.

After getting dumped by Green Bay in the wild card round of the NFL on Sunday, it took only a half for social media to fire Cowboy coach Mike Mc Carthy and bring in just fired Belichick.

And in Jerry's world, it might happen by Friday.
