Evaluation:

A big-bodied pass-catcher with man-child size and exceptional athleticism, Mountali-Johnstown owns a Darren Waller type body frame, as a teenager. That speaks volumes to the potential he possesses, as he continues to grow into his frame. The Canadian-born standout continues the pipeline from north of the border players into Storrs. When watching Mountali-Johnstown, you will notice that he has lined up all over the field; on the boundary, in the slot, inline, as an h-back and he even shows up on special teams. He seems to have dependable hands, with a big catch radius and the sheer strength to pick up yards after contact. If opponents refuse to jam him off his release, they will be forced to pay the consequences, as Mountali-Johnstown is like a locomotive once he gets full steam ahead. A willing blocker, he shows good effort and the ability to stay with his blocks but there is room for improvement in his overall technique. New offensive coordinator Nick Charlton will have an array of ways to implement the usage of ‘DMJ’ into the offense and he should be able take advantage of his size, agility and vertical game. He looks ready for the pros today, so there is a real possibility that he suits up as a true freshman.
