Clemson tops first AP Top 25 poll; one of two ACC teams ranked

College football will be picking up where it left off in January, as Clemson edged Alabama for the No. 1 spot in the preseason poll with Georgia, Oklahoma and Ohio State rounding out the top five.
Syracuse was the only other ACC team to make the poll, coming in at No. 22. The league's two ranked teams are fewest among Power Five conferences, with the Big Ten's seven ranked teams leading the way and the SEC just behind with six.
Clemson, which visits Kenan Stadium on Sept. 28, is Carolina's only opponent ranked in the opening poll.
Miami, Virginia, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and Appalachian State all received votes.
