Howell listed as top QB on first depth chart; Surratt to start at inside linebacker

No surprise at QB; Polino moves to center as McKethan takes over at right guard

As expected, true freshman Sam Howell is listed as Carolina's starter for the season-opener against South Carolina with Jace Ruder serving as his backup.

The first depth chart of the season, released on Monday morning, confirmed several other moves that developed during training camp as senior Nick Polino moves to center with Marcus McKethan taking over as the starting right guard.

At running back, Javonte Williams and Michael Carter are listed as first-team options with Antonio Williams behind them.

On defense, at least one newcomer will start with Ray Vohasek, a junior college transfer, and Tomari Fox, a true freshman, both listed as first-team options at defensive end.

In a bit of a surprise, Chazz Surratt is listed as a starter at inside linebacker despite switching to the position over this offseason.
