Report: Cade Fortin enters transfer portal

With confirmation from multiple sources on Thursday night, Inside Carolina’s Ross Martin reported that Carolina quarterback Cade Fortin has entered the transfer portal.
Fortin, a 6-3, 220-pound redshirt freshman, was among three players competing for the starting job that eventually went to Sam Howell.
A native of Suwanee, Ga., Fortin was the 29th-ranked pro-style quarterback in the Class of 2018. Originally, Fortin committed to Texas A&M before deciding to join the Tar Heels.
Called the best pure-passing quarterback on the roster by offensive coordinator Phil Longo, Fortin figures to draw plenty of interest on the transfer market after showing some promise last season, including completing 19 of 40 attempts for 276 yards with a touchdown and an interception as Carolina’s season-ending loss to N.C. State last season .
