The quarterback was named ACC Rookie of the Week for his performance on Saturday

Although fans wanted to see Carolina open up the playbook after the first half on Saturday, Howell didn't really think it was necessary.

He explained how the gameplan changed during Tuesday night's press conference.

"In the second half, they called a little more passing concepts and let me throw the ball down the field," he said. "Part of it is just our run game was so good; our offensive line did a great job the whole game and our three backs ran the ball as hard as I’ve ever seen. Honestly, we didn’t really need to throw the ball down the field; we could have ran it down the field."
