The USC Trojans men's basketball team fell very flat of any expectations set on themselves this season. They entered the year with the hope of competing heavily, but it became very clear early on, that it wouldn't be the case.

USC finished the year with a record of 15-18, going 8-12 in conference play. They started to pick things up toward the end of the season, but it was a case of it being a little too late for them.

Injuries and inconsistent play doomed the team from the start, but someone has to take the fall for the disappointing season. Throughout the year, there was speculation that head coach Andy Enfield could leave the program after the season and now there is more smoke around that.

It was reported that Enfield would be leaving the Trojans to sign a deal with SMU, a move that may have been in the works for a little bit of time. Now, basketball analyst Jeff Goodman has reported that Enfield is expected to sign his new deal with SMU next week.

Assuming Enfield does leave, the Trojans will begin their search for a new coach immediately. Enfield has been with the team since 2013, so he has made his mark within the program during that time.

The Trojans want to continue building up their basketball program, so the next coach will be tasked with maintaining what they've already built. USC has become more of a name within college basketball and they are now moving to the Big Ten, which should help with recruitment.

Enfield did a lot for the Trojans program, but it's now time to move on. He brought them back into relevancy, but the split is the best for both sides.
