Two USC Women's Basketball Stars Make Preseason Watch List for John R. Wooden Award

In this story:
The USC Woman's Basketball team is making its presence felt, as the team is currently 3-0 on the season. The Trojans have had decisive victories over Ohio State, FGCU, and the Le Moyne Dolphins.
The victory against the Dolphins saw the team trounce their opponents with a score of 93-42.
USC's victories are in large part due to its exciting starting five, which includes freshman Juju Watkins and junior Rayah Marshall.
Both Marshall and Watkins have been so stellar that they have made the preseason list of the top 50 candidates for the John R. Wooden Award.

This is an impressive feat for them, even more impressive is Watkins is the only freshman that has made the list.
With the team currently sitting at 3-0 on the season, Watkins and Marshall might find themselves squarely at the top of the list at the end of the season.
Watkins is currently averaging 28.3 PPG, placing her in 4th among the Pac-12. Marshall is currently 22nd in the Pac-12 with 70% in FG.
The Trojans are currently ranked #10 but should see a nice boost after taking down #7 Ohio State. Another challenge will come on 12/30 when the team takes on crosstown rival UCLA Bruins, who are ranked #3.
Despite the season barely starting, both Watkins and Marshall are poised for a big year. If Watkins continues her dominance in scoring, she could be seeing a lot more award recognition coming her way.
