USC Women's Basketball: Watch Coach Gottlieb Give Impassioned Speech About Kobe Bryant's Legacy

Coach Gottlieb delivered an impassioned speech about the team getting support from Kobe Bryant and his family.

The USC Trojans Women's Basketball team has the honor of being a team that is still supported by Kobe Bryant's family. The former NBA superstar was a long-standing supporter of Women's Basketball, and he made that known.

The Bryant family still heavily supports the Trojans, and the team got to see their new exclusive Kobe Bryant sneakers. Right before the reveal, Coach Gottlieb gave an impassioned speech about what it means to carry on the Kobe Bryant legacy.

In the above video, Coach Gottlieb references a comment made by Trojans star Juju Watkins. Watkins had commented during a press conference about how popular college women's basketball has become, which is certainly true.

Coach Gottlieb went into how supportive Kobe Bryant was for women's basketball, and the importance of his support before the program got to where it is presently.

According to Gottlieb, "I think a lot of times about the people who cared about it before it was the thing, and you all know who have been around here like—Kobe cared about it before it was the cool thing to care about women's basketball. I think one of the greatest things is to leave a legacy, and I think that is one of his legacies. Women's basketball matters. Vanessa and their family have done an unbelievable job of trying to say, 'How do we keep this going in Gigi's memory and Kobe's memory for women's basketball.'"

The exclusive shoes were given to the Trojans to honor their season moving forward, especially with USC being a Mamba school. Coach Gottlieb is right in that Kobe was a huge supporter of women's basketball.

The team is also 8-0, which we hope is making Kobe Bryant proud. The shoes are just an extension of his greatness, which we hope is what the team feels when they are on the court wearing them.
