USC Woman's Basketball: JuJu Watkins Awarded Huge Honor

The hits keep coming.

New USC Trojans women's basketball wing JuJu Watkins, a 6'2" freshman out of Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth, has been named to the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week for the fifth consecutive week, per USC's official X/Twitter account. Given that the season's only lasted for five complete weeks, this is quite the achievement!

Watkins has emerged as one of the most elite scorers in the nation, freshman or otherwise, through her first eight contests this season. She's averaging 27.3 points on .506/.476/.724 shooting splits, seven rebounds, and 3.6 assists.

Last Sunday, in an 85-53 decimation of the UC Riverside Highlanders, she scored 27 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the floor (4-of-6 from deep) and 3-of-6 shooting from the foul line, dished out five dimes, swiped five steals, grabbed three rebounds, and blocked two shots.

Led by Watkins and big Rayah Marshall, the Trojans are currently ranked as the sixth-best club in the country by the Associated Press

The Trojans will look to burnish their record on Monday against the 4-3 Cal State Fullerton Titans. The Trojans will have a massive rest advantage, as the Titans are also playing on Saturday, against the California Baptist Lancers.
