USC Football: Former NFL First-Round QB Says Caleb Williams Can Do Things 'Guys in the NFL Can't'
We're less than two weeks away from USC superstar Caleb Williams being selected in the 2024 NFL draft. It's all but sure that he will be the number-one pick and head to Chicago.
Selecting Williams as the number one pick is the logical choice. He's proven two seasons in a row that he is worthy of the pick, and he is by far the most talented quarterback in this class and possibly in draft history.
While all that is true, Willaims has received some constructive criticism for several months. Whether it concerns his play or how he handles himself on and off the field, that type of talk has been louder than the praise.
However, former star college quarterback turned analyst Brady Quinn took a different approach. In his latest appearance on 'With the 1st Pick,' Quinn praised Williams, saying he could do things in the NFL that some guys cannot.
"There are things about Caleb Williams you just cannot gameplan for… he does things guys in the NFL can't do."
We've heard the comparisons, whether with Patrick Mahomes or Aaron Rodgers. While that might seem premature, those comparisons are warranted. Williams is a special talent under center, and those skills we've seen in college should translate to the NFL.
The 22-year-old has elite arm talent and can make any throw he can, especially when off-balanced. If he wants to be, he can be Superman within any given play, and he usually makes the correct read. Williams is a pure athlete who is accurate with the football, a natural leader who moves effectively and can throw on the run.
The tools are all there, and by all accounts, if everything pans out, the Bears will have their quarterback of the present and future. Quinn sees the potential and skill USC fans and the college football world have seen since his introduction.
