USC men's golf head coach Mark Hankins is bringing a decorated assistant head coach onto his staff ahead of the 2023-24 season.

Per a USC press release from earlier this week, the Trojans are hiring former San Diego State associate head coach Evan Emerick to help steward the club.

Emerick began his run with the Aztecs as a player from 2008-12. A two-time Mountain West Scholar-Athlete, he returned to his alma matter as a volunteer assistant coach from 2013-15. He subsequently served as director of operations and associate head coach for SDSU's golf team.

"Evan brings a wealth of coaching experience in the southern California area," head coach Mark Hankins said. "He is passionate about working in collegiate golf and with the players, and we are excited to have him join our team."
"We are excited to welcome Evan into the Trojan Family," USC's Executive Senior Associate Athletic Director Paul Perrier said. "We are impressed with his high character and proven ability of developing players. He will provide strong leadership and serve as a great role model for our student-athletes."

During Emerick's tenure, SDSU has boasted nine GCAA All-American selections and 14 Ping All-West Region teamers. Seven-time PGA tour champ Xander Schauffele, currently the sixth-ranked golfer in the world, numbers among these Aztec alums.
