USC Men's Volleyball: Trojans Land Experienced Setter Via Transfer Portal

Quite the addition!

Your USC men's volleyball just got even better ahead of the 2024 season and it's all thanks to the transfer portal. It's pretty crazy to think how the portal has evolved over the years within collegiate sports and it has allowed so many athletes to make the best decisions for themselves athletically and academically.

The Trojans are on the hunt this season for their fourth NCAA championship in their school's history and will be looking to build off of their 2023 campaign that saw them finish with a record 10-16 while getting knocked out in the first round of MPSF Tournament by Stanford.

However, USC's head coach Jeff Nygaard revealed that the team made a key roster addition ahead of their new season with none other than Josh Friedman making his way from the University of Hawaii.

"Friedman spent his sophomore year at Hawai'i where he was named to the Big West Commissioner's Honor Roll but did not see action on the court. Prior to joining the Warriors, he attended Orange Coast College for two years where he started in 2022 to help OCC win the CCCAA State Championship. Friedman led the league in assists per set and was chosen to the CCCAA All-Tournament Team and to the All-State and All-Orange Empire Conference first teams. He redshirted the 2021 season due to the COVID shutdown."

It's great to know that Friedman already has gotten comfortable with the college level of competition and has had success as a setter. We look forward to seeing him rock the red and gold this year!
