USC Women's Lacrosse: Trojans Complete Two-Game Sweep On East Coast

Your USC Trojans women’s lacrosse team, the No. 17-ranked program in the land, outlasted a rallying Villanova Wildcats squad on Sunday to remain absolutely perfect to start its 2024 season in a high-scoring 12-11 win at Villanova Stadium. USC’s season opener was a 13-9 victory over No. 15-ranked Army on Friday.

Now granted, it’s only been two games, but an undefeated beginning is still an undefeated beginning.

Next up, the Women of Troy will look to claim a third straight victory during a noon PT showdown against Hofstra on Saturday, the 17th. USC’s home debut on the season will be broadcast on USC Live Stream-3. The reigning Pac-12 champs have gotten off to a smoldering start. Here’s hoping their good luck continues.

In claiming their second victory of the year, three Women of Troy achieved hat tricks: grad student attack Ella Heaney (her second straight this year), senior midfielder Claudia Shevitz, and senior attacker Shelby Tilton.

Per USC Communications, Heaney has been honored as the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week (her second such award in her career, to this point at least), while Trojans sophomore midfielder Kate Gerrity, thanks to her first-ever starts for the club, was named as the Defensive Player of the Week.
