USC Women's Volleyball: 2 Trojans Honored On Pac-12 Preseason Team

Last Monday, two of the best players on your USC Trojans women's volleyball team were honored by earning spots on the 2023 Pac-12 Preseason All-Conference Team, ahead of their final season before vacating the Pac-12 in favor of the Big Ten.

Per a school press release, 6'2" senior outside hitter Skylar Fields and 5'9" junior setter Mia Tuaniga made the cut.

The presser notes that the Women of Troy have won five previous Pac-12 titles, all during this century: in 2000, 2002, 2003, 2011 and 2015.

In 2022, Fields set Pac-12 benchmarks with 5.11 kills per set, 598 total kills, 5.56 points per set and 650 cumulative points. The UT Austin transfer was named to the AVCA All-America First Team and Pac-12 All-Conference Team for her efforts during her inaugural season with the program as a junior.

Tuaniga, meanwhile, also paced the Pac-12 in a few statistical categories of her own. Her 0.49 service aces per set was the first-best such rate, while her 1,308 assists in 2022 were the second-most in the conference. She also set a single-match school record as a sophomore in 2022, when she notched 10 service aces against Colorado in September.

The Pac-12 clearly has high hopes for these returning Trojan stars, as USC will be featured 10 times across various Pac-12 Networks cable showings in 2023.
