Three transfers Utah brought in to look out for in 2023

In this story:
While programs like USC and Colorado have looked to the portal seemingly more than recruiting to build their rosters, Utah is one of the few programs in the country that isn't as reliant.
It's not to say that they don't use the transfer portal, but not to the extent that other programs in the Pac-12 do. The Utes brought in just eight transfers, which is just two more than a program like Stanford who up until a few months ago people around the country believed they couldn't even use the portal.
Despite bringing so few transfers, they clearly valued quality over quantity as the expectation is that a majority if not all of them will be contributors for Utah in 2023. Let's take a look at three that every Ute fan should be looking out for in the upcoming season as Utah looks to three-peat as Pac-12 champions.
Levani Damuni, LB, Stanford
After pursuing the Utah native Levani Damuni as a recruit, the Utes ended up getting him eventually. It just happened to be after he spent the past four seasons at Stanford. While in Palo Alto he not only emerged as a great leader, but also a tackling machine. He will have a chance to use his experience and familiarity with the Pac-12 opponents to help Utah repeat as Pac-12 champs.
Mycah Pittman, WR, Florida State
After losing a couple of inexperience and less proven players, the Utes were able to bring in former Oregon and Florida State receiver Mycah Pittman. The former four-star had his best season of his career this past season in Tallahassee, recording 32 catches for over 300 yards and three touchdowns. He provides another target for Cam Rising, and may have more opportunities at Utah than he had at both Oregon or Florida State which could lead to a breakout year.
Miles Battle, DB, Ole Miss
Utah has quite a history of sending defensive backs to the NFL, and it'd be shocking if Ole Miss transfer Miles Battle wasn't the next. The 6-foot-4 senior has a unique background being that he arrived at Ole Miss in 2018 as a four-star wide receiver before switching to cornerback. This past season he recorded 37 total tackles, four pass breakups and one pick, providing a veteran and proven player to the defensive back room. With all of the elite offenses in the Pac-12 and the fact that Utah plays all three of the best quarterbacks in the conference, having help slowing down receivers is a premium.
