After one of the worst seasons in the history of Vanderbilt men's basketball in 2018, any win is a good one, including an exhibition contest.

New head coach Jerry Stackhouse and his young Commodores squad took to the court for the first time Friday night  and blew out the visitors from Clark-Atlanta 95-55.

Junior guard Saben Lee led Vanderbilt with a game high 19 points off the bench, as five players scored in double figures for the Commodores.

Sophmore Aron Nesmith tossed in 17 while freshman Scottie Pippen Jr. added 15. Matthew Moyer and Dylan Disu finished with 10 each for the Commodores.

For Pippen Jr. in his first game inside Memorial Gym, the freshman showed why he was a prize recruit as his NBA Hall of Fame father looked on.

In all 10 players scored for Vanderbilt as the Commodores lead all but :51 seconds of the contest before a crowd of 8,975 who witnessed the home team get 39 points from their bench while pounding the ball into the paint for 50 of the team's 95 total points.

The one nregative for the Commodores, turnovers. For the game Vanderbilt turned the ball over 28 times while shooting just 54.7%  from the floor, connecting on 35 of 64 shot attempts.

The Commodores shooting woes extended beyond the arc, and at the free throw strip as well, as the team managed just 8 of 23 from deep, a 34/8% mark and finishing 17 of 28 from the charity strip, good for 60.7%, a number that will likely not make Stackhouse happy.

Vanderbilt kicks off the regular season Nov. 6th, hosting Southeast Missouri State in a 7pm tipoff at Memorial Gym.

The Commodoes then host Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Nov. 11 before their first road game of the season just three days later as they travel to Virginia to face the Richmond Spider.

Vanderbilt opens conference play on January, 8 as they travel to Auburn to face Bruce Pearl and the Tigers.

Texas A&M visits Meorial Gym on Jan. 11 as the home opener for conference play for the Commodores.
