The start was not exactly what the doctor ordered for the Vanderbilt Commodores, as their first possession after receiving the opening kickoff resulted in a major loss when center Sean McMoore snapped the football over the head of Ke'Shawn Vaughn in the wildcat set. 

Kalijah Lipscomb recovered for the Commodores at their own 3 yard line, avoiding early disaster, but the drive ended one play later with a punt that gave Kentucky excellent field position in Vanderbilt territory. 

Kentucky responded with a 3o yard drive that culminated in a 32 yard, Chance Poor field goal to give the visiting Wildcats an early 3-0 advantage. 

The Commodores would answer on the ensuing possession as quarterback Riley Neal, with help from Cam Johnson on a throw back pass and Kalijah Lipscomb would march 75 yards to the endzone, capped off by a 5-yard Ke'Shawn Vaughn touchdown run toe give Vanderbilt their first lead of the game. 

On the next Wildcat possession, with Kentucky at the Vanderbilt 32 yard line, running back Asim Rose was stripped of the footbll by Vanderbilt's Andre Mintz and recovered by Allan George who returned the football 67 yards for another Commodores touchdown. 

In the second quarter, the Wildcats would find the endzone for the first time in the half, driving 75 yards in 11 plays as running backl Kavosiey Smoke capped it with a 3 yard touchdown run to pull the visitors to within 4 points, at 14-10 with 14:14 left in the fist half. 

Kentucky would once again mount a drive, this time going 82 yards as Chris rodriguez gave the Wildcats their first lead of the game on a 22 yard touchdown run with 8:07 left in the first half.

After a Vanderbilt three-and-out, the Wildcats took possession at their own 25 with 7:06 remaining in the half. QUarterback Lynn Bowden Jr. directed a 6:55 drive that ended with a 14 yard scoring toos to Josh Ali to increase the WIldcats advantage to 24-14 with just :11 remaining in the first half. 

The Wildcats emassed 319 total yards in the first half, with 279 coming on the ground and 40 through the air. 

Vanderbilt managed just 84 yards of total offense in the fist half, rushing for 66 yards as Ke'SHawn Vaughn led the COmmodores on thr gorund with 33 yards. 

Commodores quarterback Riley Neal completed just one of five passes for two yards in the first half, while receiver Cam Johnson completed one pass for 18 yards on a throwback pass to Vaugh on the lone socring drive of the first half for Vanderbilt.
