Halftime Report: Vanderbilt- Northern Illinois

Vanderbilt struck early, then struggled late in the first half, but lead Northern Illinois 14-0 at half.

It looked like the Vanderbilt Commodores would turn their game against Northern Illinois into a blowout early, as they raced to a quick 14-0 lead just 6:03 into the first quater, but the Huskies settled down defensively.

After receiving the opening kickoff, the Commodores needed just 4 plays to go 80 yards in 1:35 seconds as Keyon Brooks did the majority of the damage, going 61 yards for the opening tocudown and a 7-0 advantage. 

The second score came just moments later as Ke'SHawn Vaughn found the endzone on a oe-yard run after  a 5 play, 31 yard drive that took 2:49 second and gave the Commodores a 14-0 lead.

THe Commodores defense held the Huskies scoreless through the first half, allowing the Huskies 140 total yards (80 rushuing and 60 passing) through two quareters.

Vanderbilt has struggled getting to the opposing quarterbacks through the first three games of the season, but produced consistant pressure on Huskies quarterback Ross Bowers. Elijah Mcallister lead the defense with two sacks in the first half.
