Halftime Report: Vanderbilt-Ole Miss

It was not the start the Vanderbilt Commodores envisioned as both their offense and defense struggled through a first quarter dominated by the Ole Miss Rebels.

Ole Miss jumped out to a 10-0 advantage on the legs of true freshman quarterback John Rhys Plumlee, who carried 8 times for 113 yards and a touchdown in the first quarter.

The Commodores settled in defensively and held the Rebels scoreless the remained of the half, but managed little offense outside a Riley Neal 53 yards pass to Kalijah Lispcomb where the talented wide out slipped a tackle near the Vanderbilt sideline and raced down the sideline to the Ole Miss 10 yard line.

An unsportsman like conduct penalty on Vanderbitl's Ke'Shawn Vaughn moved the ball back to the Rebel 25 and helped force the Commodores into a 22 yard Ryley Guay field goal, cutting the Rebels lead to 10-3.

Neal engenered a drive late in the second quarter to set up a 43 yard FG from Guay as the first half cam to a close, cutting the Rebels lead to 10-6 at the intermission.      .
