Little History Between Vanderbilt and Purdue
When Vanderbilt and Purdue kickoff Saturday at noon at Ross-Ade Stadium it will be just the third time the two schools have met on the football field. You have to go all the way back to 1941 and 1942 to find the history of their meetings, and it's all Commodores.
The two teams first met in West Lafayette, Indiana in 1941 where the visiting Commodores walked away with a 3-0 win. Specific details of the game and who scored for Vanderbilt are unavailable, but then a win is a win, right!
Just over one year later the two teams met for the second time and last time to date, this time in Nashville and once again Vanderbilt would walk away with the victory. This time in more convincing fashing, shutting out the Boilermakers 26-0.
Nothing that happened in thos games other than the outcomes are even relative to the coming matchup, but Vanderbilt will enter the game on a two-game win streak versus their opponent, both in shutouts.
It will be tough for Vanderbilt to keep that shutout streak alive versus this version of the Boilers, but keeping their undefeated streak alive against Purdue is certainly a possiblity.
