Video: Mason On Kentucky Offense

Injuries at quarterback are not just a Vanderbilt problem. The Kentucky Wildcats are experiencing their issues at that position as well.

When the Vanderbilt COmmodores host the Kentucky Wildcats this Saturday at Vanderbilt Stadium, one team will greet the return of a starting quarterback while the other will continue to us a wide receiver at that position. 

Commodores head coach Derek Mason says that quarterback Riley Neal will retunr this week and start versus the Wildcats while Kentucky will once again send receiver Lynn Bowden Jr. into the starting lineup at quarterback. 

Bowden Jr. is a tremendous athlete that brings a different challenge to the table in how efficient and affective he is at moving the football with his legs. 

Mason described the new offense coach Mark Stoops and Kentucky are using as almost an option offense. Well, actually it is a read option offense, but with little passing and on most pass plays it is off play action or a roll out to move Bowden Jr, into space where he still has the option to run. 

Besides Bowden,  Kentucky has a stable of running backs that alternate and an offensive line that is solid in the running game. 

WHile the Commodores defense has improved the last several games, this will be a new and different type challnge for them this week.
