Welcome Vanderbilt Sports Fans

Hello and welcome Vanderbilt fans to our new site, it is still a work in progress but then anything worth doing is worth doing right and this is definitely one of thos things.
I want to take just a minute to introduce myself to you all, share a little background and tell you my thoughts and plans for what we are going to do here. I'm also going to tell you how you the fans of both Vanderbilt athletics, and hopefully this site can contribute and tell me what you want to see and hear about your favorties Vandy sports or athlete.
ABOUT ME
I'm a life long Middle Tennessee resident who grew up in Clarksville with a passion for sports. As a child my dad- who is a huge Vandy fan and has already asked me for media passes to games, NO dad, I can't. More about him shortly- and I went to many Austin Peay games and some Vanderbilt games when we could make the trip. Keep in mind the 70's were a long time ago and Nashville seemed like it took days to get to for a young kid.
I won't bore you with my lifes history, but ultimately I landed in Gallatin, Tn. which has been my home for over 30 years. During my time in Gallatin I have met several former Vanderbilt football players- Gallatin had a pipeline to West End back in the 80's- who I call friends. I've attended Vanderbilt game with them over the years, tailgated with them and shared laughs and stories of their days in Black & Gold. Suffice to say that I'm excited for this opportunity and what I think it holds because of the passion of Vanderbilt fans who want more information on their teams. Also during that time I have been involved in various media rolls that include spots talk radio, covering the Tennessee Titans as the publisher for Scout Media- now defunct- and for 28 years I have been part of the local Gallatin radio station broadcasting Gallatin High School sports. So you could say I've done a few things, but none seem more challanging that what I'm undertaking here, for you the fans and with the name Sports Illustrated behind me.
MY DAD
Don't worry, this will be short, but perhaps painful for some of you.
My dad is a character and we all know that parents can, and sometimes will embarrass their children. This was one of those times where I wanted to crawl under my seat, but it actually turned out far better than I had expected.
The man hugging the former football coach is none other than my dad. I took him to the Music City Bowl as a Christmas gift and got him media credentials, not expecting him to speak during the press conference, but he did and thus my embarrassment. It's pretty funny now, but wasn't at the time.
WHAT TO EXPECT
In the interest of brevity what you should expect here from this site and from me is fair, honest, objective and through coverage of Vanderbilt athletics. What I want to ask of you is to sign up for our community, it doesn't cost a thing, and to become active and make this YOUR home for Vanderbilt athletic information and engagement with other fans.
The format switch from this page to the SI.com page will take place shortly and will not interupt content here. There will be some growing pains of course as I, just one man tries to cover as much as I can, but we have plans to add more writers an student interns to our staff.
I'm very excited to be on the ground floor of this site, and much like Vanderbilt athletics under new athletic director Malcolm Turner and the adnministration of the university are doing, we're building something here together and want you to be a part of our foundation.
Thanks for taking time to read this and again, welcome to Vanderbilt athletics through Sports Illustrated and SI.com

A 29 year veteran of radio in the Middle Tennessee area and 16 years in digital and internet media having covered the Tennessee Titans for Scout Media and TitanInsider.com before joining the Sports Illustrated family of networks.
