The Virginia men's golf team placed third in stroke play at the ACC Men's Golf Championship, advanced to the semifinals of match play, and earned the clinching point in the 2022-2023 Commonwealth Clash on Sunday at the Golf Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst. 

UVA and Duke tied for third at the end of stroke play at 4-under 860, trailing second-place Wake Forest at 10-under 854 and Georgia Tech, who shot 26-under 838 to finish first in stroke play. 

Virginia first year Ben James finished tied for third place on the individual leaderboards, shooting 3-under-par in the final round to finish at 7-under 209. UVA's Bryan Lee and George Duangmanee were tied at 23rd at 2-over 218, while Pietro Bovari shot a 4-over 220 to place 34th and Chris Fosick was 49th at 10-over 226. 

The Cavaliers' third-place finish sent them into Sunday's match play semifinals, where they fell to Wake Forest 3-0-2:

By virture of Virginia's third-place finish at the ACC Men's Golf Championships, the Cavaliers have claimed the 2022-2023 Commonwealth Clash. As Virgnia Tech finished 12th in the team standings, UVA earned another point in the clash, giving the Cavaliers an 11-8 lead with only two points left up for grabs at the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. See the full list of events and scores for the 2022-2023 Commonwealth Clash here.

Virginia will now await selection to the NCAA Regionals, which will be revealed on May 3rd at 1pm on GOLF Channel.
