The Virginia Cavaliers defeated Stanford 48-20 in Week Four to begin conference play. Read below for a game thread in reverse chronological order.

End of Quarter Four - Virginia 48, Stanford 20

Virginia's offense just keeps getting better. Quarterback Chandler Morris shine as a passer, picking apart the Cardinals' pass defense. The offense totaled 590 yards including 384 through the air. The offense stumbled in the red zone at times but ultimately looked unstoppable. Stanford quarterback Ben Gulbranson did move the ball extremely well on the Virginia defense. Overall, Virginia makes a statement to open up ACC play.

A missed field goal means another empty Stanford drive. Gulbranson tries to string something together to score and almost throws a pick in the end zone that slips through the hands of Devin Neal.

Daniel Kaelin subs in at quarterback and throws an easy 4-yard score for his first career TD. Steady dose of Harrison Waylee and J'Mari Taylor on the way to the red zone.

Another chip shot field goal. It was real ugly but went in. Cam Ross reels in his 7th reception. A trip to the red zone thanks to a huge pass interference penalty.

Daniel Rickert records his second sack of the game to bring the drive to a halt. Another Cardinals punt.

Virginia with a really quiet three-and-out. A shockingly short drive for an insanely hot offense.

Gulbranson having a game of his own for Stanford, now over 240 yards passing. A beautiful spiral dropped right into the hands of Bryce Farrell for a 68-yard score. The sixth-year wide receiver already has a career-high 128 yards. Two-point conversion fails.

Veteran center Brady Wilson leaves with an injury. Chandler Morris getting more weapons involved including receiver Jahmal Edrine. Some penalties slowed the offense down in Stanford territory. Field goal is good from 28 yards out.

Virginia registers another sack. Melton Mitchell and Jacob Holmes combine to take down Gulbranson. Another drive, another Stanford three-and-out.

Another TD for Chandler Morris. This time to Sage Ennis. Morris has 4 TD and 318 yards halfway through the third quarter. Xavier Brown and J'Mari Taylor both rip off chunk plays on the drive.

Chandler Morris for 3/4 and finishes off the drive by finding Trell Harris for his first TD. Morris delivers two 20+ yard strikes to Cam Ross in the process. J'Mari Taylor also getting good early work out of the backfield.
