For Tristan Vizcaino, the Longhorn state turned out to be a short-term venture.

On Monday, the Dallas Cowboys released Vizcaino, the former University of Washington place-kicker, after he struggled mightily with accuracy once training camp began.

Vizcaino connected on just 22 of 35 field-goal attempts in eight practices, suffering through a 4-for-8 performance on Saturday in which he missed four consecutive kicks.

The Chino Hills, California, native didn't even get beyond the 90-man roster cutdown as he now searches for another pro tryout opportunity six years after leaving the UW.

Vizcaino has kicked for four NFL teams over the past four seasons, spending one game with the San Francisco 49ers at the end of 2020 season and converting 3 of 3 field goals against the Seattle Seattle Seahawks; six games with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2021, making 6 of 7 attempts; and two games with the New England Patriots and one with the Arizona Cardinal last season, with no attempts.

At the UW, Vizcaino was a place-kicker, kickoff man and punter in 2014-17, though he handled field goals and extra points on a full-time basis only as a senior. He last appeared in a Husky game in the 2017 Fiesta Bowl against Penn State, supplying four conversion kicks in a 35-28 defeat.
