2026 Receiver Rico Blassingame Has Some Game

In this story:
Originally a product of the state of Washington, 2026 wide receiver Rico Blassingame received an offer from his "dream school" on May 18. After taking a look at his film, it's clear to see why wide receivers coach JaMarcus Shephard extended an early offer to the rising star at Tolleson Union High School in Arizona.
The two-sport athlete is a fluid mover on the basketball court and the football field. As a freshman, Blassingame got a shot to play varsity football and recorded three catches for 49 yards, including a 38-yard snag.
Listed at 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds, Blassingame has future star written all over him. When you turn on the film from his freshman season, it's hard not to see that he's a future four-star receiver.
Great day on Saturday, very proud of my @TTownFball teammates and I for going 3-1. Great day for myself as well 21 catches 7 TDs more work to be done! @CraigHaubert @BlairAngulo @BrandonHuffman @ChadSimmons_ @MohrRecruiting @SWiltfong247 @GregBiggins @adamgorney @JUSTCHILLY pic.twitter.com/tKKazReKlC

The fluidity he shows as a basketball player shows up when he's running routes, which is a very rare trait for a freshman. He gets in and out of breaks in a flash and also displays a high football IQ, finding soft spots in zone coverage with ease.
Blassingame also has good contact balance for his size and, as he continues to gain weight, he's only going to improve in that department. With his size, length and athleticism, he removes the idea of any jump ball being a "50-50" ball and comes down with them nearly every time.
He's already received five scholarship offers and is bound to receive more as he attends camps and 7-on-7 tournaments over the summer. Blassingame is going to be a big-time prospect and getting in on him early was a wise decision by the Washington coaching staff.

I've followed the Huskies for my entire life, and to be in a position where I get to cover them full-time is nothing short of an honor. After graduating from Lasell University in 2019, I moved to Seattle to pursue my dream of working in sports media. While writing for the Husky Haul, I also covered local sports for the Everett Daily Herald before the COVID-19 pandemic. After being hired by Realdawg.com in February of 2021, I also transitioned into doing a lot of entertainment writing, as I work on a variety of magazines as a contributing writer for Centennial Media, and have also contributed to Emmy Magazine, as well as Walt Disney Television Studios.
