Four-Star QB Ryan Montgomery Talks UW Visit

In this story:
Even though the Huskies offered a slew of 2025 Southern California quarterbacks, the coaching staff is still exploring every option it possibly can. Over the weekend, the staff hosted four-star quarterback Ryan Montgomery, from Findlay High School in Ohio.
Not only did he take in some new sights and great weather during his first trip West, but he also got to experience Seattle fans at their finest.
"[Seattle] was beautiful," Montgomery said. "I've never been out West so I was amazed with the mountains. The stadium was crazy and the fans at the Kraken game were wild."
As it was his first time meeting the Washington coaching staff, he didn't receive a scholarship offer, but already has a relationship with tight-ends coach Nick Sheridan from his time at Indiana. He also got a chance to meet offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb, as well as Kalen DeBoer.

"This was my first time meeting them," he said. "[Coach Sheridan] recruited my brother at [Indiana] and my dad kept in contact with him. Coach Grubb was super impressive. His offense has been good at every stop he has been to. His attention to detail stood out to me."
Even though the staff hasn't extended an offer to the 2025 prospect, it would be a safe bet to say that he'll receive one at some point. He currently holds an impressive offer list that includes 23 scholarships from schools including Ohio State, Georgia, Michigan, and Notre Dame.
When asked about the offense, Montgomery seemed enamored with what Grubb and Sheridan showed him on film.
"Coach [Grubb] makes adjustments based on the quarterback's strengths," he said. "I'm a pro-style quarterback so I'm confident I could work well with him."
Montgomery wants to return to Washington at some point during the season to check out the atmosphere on game day, but hasn't nailed down a date just yet.

I've followed the Huskies for my entire life, and to be in a position where I get to cover them full-time is nothing short of an honor. After graduating from Lasell University in 2019, I moved to Seattle to pursue my dream of working in sports media. While writing for the Husky Haul, I also covered local sports for the Everett Daily Herald before the COVID-19 pandemic. After being hired by Realdawg.com in February of 2021, I also transitioned into doing a lot of entertainment writing, as I work on a variety of magazines as a contributing writer for Centennial Media, and have also contributed to Emmy Magazine, as well as Walt Disney Television Studios.
