Prior to his junior year, offensive lineman Davit Boyajyan never played a snap of high school varsity football in Fresno, California.

At Clovis North High, he had to wait five games into his senior season before receiving his first scholarship offer on Sept. 19 from Sacramento State.

However, everything thereafter happened fairly quickly for the 6-foot-5, 300-pound prospect, who four days later during his official visit to Washington received an offer from coach Kalen DeBoer.

Boyajyan didn't need to hear anything more. He was ready to pledge his future to the Husky football program.

"It was amazing," Boyajyan said. "Going up there I knew, if they offered me I was going to commit on the spot. Telling him that I was going to commit, I saw how happy he was."

Still, DeBoer told the him to talk it over with his parents, who had traveled with their son to Seattle. They felt the same way, telling him to jump at the opportunity to play for UW.

During the summer, Boyajyan had trimmed down 35 pounds and worked on his technique after an untold number of college coaches didn't return his messages.

In mid-September, UW director of player personnel Courtney Morgan reached out to Clovis North coach Michael Jacot to express interest in the rising lineman, right before Sacramento State and Fresno State, DeBoer's former school, made their offers to Boyajyan.

Shortly after Boyajyan made his Husky commitment known, Nebraska reached out to him but it was too late for the Cornhuskers and anyone else.

Prior to his official UW visit, the 3-star offensive lineman didn't know anyone on DeBoer's team outside of redshirt freshman wide receiver Jake Parnagian, who had played at Clovis North.

"I'm coming in with a big heart," Boyajyan said. "I love the program. It's going to be exciting and I can't wait to get up there. I'm just going to play hard and hopefully win a national championship."
