With the "purple carpet treatment" on the way for official visitors, Washington's coaching staff hosted its Top Dawg camp to get one last scouting session in before shifting its focus entirely to visits. Mainly geared around local prospects, a lot of underclassmen from the state of Washington ended up receiving scholarship offers.

One of those prospects is 2026 receiver Asa Thompson. A product of Eastside Catholic High School in nearby Sammamish, the Huskies became the sixth Division I program to extend an offer to the rising sophomore.

Thompson came into the camp holding offers from four Power 5 programs, including Arizona State, Lousiville, Oregon, and Oregon State. Now he can say that he holds an offer from his hometown school.

Measuring in at 5-11 and 165 pounds, Thompson played on Eastside Catholic's varsity team as a freshman and was able to make a significant impact. When he gets the ball in his hands in space, he's incredibly tough to catch thanks to his speed and great footwork.

Thompson is also very good with his breaks in and out of routes. While he hasn't faced a lot of press coverage just yet, as he continues to learn the game, he looks like a future route-running technician who will be able to create free releases off the line of scrimmage.

The coaching staff hasn't had a lot of success with in-state recruits just yet during Kalen DeBoer's tenure, but building early relationships with players like Thompson could help turn that around.

I've followed the Huskies for my entire life, and to be in a position where I get to cover them full-time is nothing short of an honor. After graduating from Lasell University in 2019, I moved to Seattle to pursue my dream of working in sports media. While writing for the Husky Haul, I also covered local sports for the Everett Daily Herald before the COVID-19 pandemic. After being hired by Realdawg.com in February of 2021, I also transitioned into doing a lot of entertainment writing, as I work on a variety of magazines as a contributing writer for Centennial Media, and have also contributed to Emmy Magazine, as well as Walt Disney Television Studios.
