In this story:

Washington has always put an emphasis on recruiting the state of California. As the coaching staff continues one of its recruiting sweeps, more offers are going out to players in the classes of 2025 and 2026.

The latest player to receive an offer from the Husky staff is Archbishop Riordan athlete Cynai Thomas. Listed at 6-foot-1 and 150 pounds, Thomas plays both wide receiver and defensive back for his high school team.

Thomas' offer came from wide receivers coach JaMarcus Shephard, so it's easy to assume that the coaching staff wants him on the offensive side of the ball. However, he displays great eye discipline on his film at cornerback and is young enough that he still has time to develop and find his best fit.

He has picked up a lot of steam through the offseason and has stood out at various camps that have helped him collect eight offers, including Washington's. Six of those eight offers have come from Pac-12 schools, including California, Oregon, and Oregon State.

On film, it's clear why Thomas has started to collect offers, but as is the case with most younger prospects, he has a lot of room to improve. He plays tall and stiff but knows how to high-point the football and is a clear red-zone threat.

As he continues to train and add strength to his frame he has the potential to become a major threat on either side of the ball. Thomas moves well for his size, but like a lot of young players needs to keep refining his skill set while retaining his athleticism.

I've followed the Huskies for my entire life, and to be in a position where I get to cover them full-time is nothing short of an honor. After graduating from Lasell University in 2019, I moved to Seattle to pursue my dream of working in sports media. While writing for the Husky Haul, I also covered local sports for the Everett Daily Herald before the COVID-19 pandemic. After being hired by Realdawg.com in February of 2021, I also transitioned into doing a lot of entertainment writing, as I work on a variety of magazines as a contributing writer for Centennial Media, and have also contributed to Emmy Magazine, as well as Walt Disney Television Studios.
