Darrion Dupree injured an ankle and sat out five games last season. The situation was made even more disheartening by the fact the 4-star running back had to watch his Mount Carmel High School football team win a 7A Illinois state championship without him.

He's not missed much since.

On Tuesday, the University of Washington offered him a scholarship, his 30th so far, as programs from coast to coast have a big interest.

When healthy, the 5-foot-10, 195-pound Dupree, a class of 2024 prospect, is a smooth, fluid runner who can find the end zone.

In the game before he got hurt, Dupree scored four first-half touchdowns in a 60-0 victory over Saint Viator, running 2, 10 and 34 yards for scores and catching a pass for points from 15 yards out.

He went down in his team's ninth outing, a 42-37 win over Loyola, leaving after rushing for 81 yards on just seven carries.

His Caravan team went on to polish off a 14-0 season without him, demonstrating how much talent it possessed in 2022.

Among Dupree's most ardent pursuers naturally are Midwest schools, with Illinois  pushing hard for him, as well as Michigan, Michigan State and Notre Dame. His father played for the Spartans and Nick Saban, yet he was accompanied on one of his recent recruiting trips with his step-father.

The Huskies have had a Chicago running back on the roster since the late Harvey Blanks in 1968-69.
