Leo Hannan has a new football coach, a totally new attitude about the game and now a scholarship offer from the University of Washington.

The Huskies must like the resilience of this 6-foot-4, 205-pound quarterback from Servite High School in Anaheim, California.

Hannan comes off a sophomore season in which he suffered mightily as his once powerhouse football program nosedived from a 10-3 record and a Southern Sectional championship game appearance the year before to a miserable 1-9 season in 2022.

Typical of what happened to Hannan was a game against St. John Bosco and current UW freshman linebacker Deven Bryant, when the young quarterback completed 13 of 18 passes for 59 yards and threw an interception while his Friars team got pounded 49-3.

Needless to say, Servite parted ways with football coach Troy Thomas, who was the architect of the 2021 team but seemed to lose control over everything that happened 12 months later.

The school since his hired Chris Reinert, a Servite alum who was a Vanderbilt wide receiver and coached in some fashion as a support person at Arizona State, Colorado, UCLA and Washington State.

For the most part, Hannan, who plays basketball, appears to have emerged unscarred. He's been impressive enough as a 3-star recruit in events and camps to land the UW offer and others from Arizona, Illinois, Florida Atlantic and Georgia Southern.

Naturally, with such a disheartening season, Servite didn't submit any season passing stats on its quarterback to the recruiting websites from last fall.

Hannan is one of six SoCal quarterbacks offered this week by the Huskies, joining 6-foot-2, 185-pound Husan Longstreet from Centennial High in Corona, 6-4, 220-pound Jackson Kollock from Laguna Beach High, 6-5, 205-pound Akili Smith Jr. from Lincoln High in San Diego, 6-3, 185-pound Madden Iamaleava from Warren High in Downey and 6-1, 185-pound Dash Beierly from Chapparal High in Temecula.
