Huskies Offer the Second Coming of LaVar Arrington

In this story:
The gene pool is way off the charts on this University of Washington target.
His father was a seven-year NFL linebacker before a motorcycle accident got in the way, a three-time Pro Bowl recipient, the second overall pick of the 2000 NFL draft, College Football Hall of Fame inductee, a two-time All-America selection, the Butkus Award winner, the co-Big Ten defensive player of the year, the national high school player of the year, recruited by North Carolina and Georgetown to play basketball and a 10.85 sprinter in track.
Whew.
LaVar Arrington is also the proud father of a son named for him who's a linebacker, wide receiver and/or tight end and now holds five Power 5 scholarship offers, the most recent coming from the Huskies and receiver coach JaMarcus Shephard.
On Monday, the 6-foot-3, 215-pound LaVar Arrington II, who describes himself as an athlete and is coming off his sophomore season at Charter Oak High School in Covina, California, revealed he has offers from Boston College, Colorado, Oregon State, San Diego State and now the UW.
After a meaningful conversation with @CoachShephard I am honored to receive my fifth D-1 offer to the University of Washington. Thank you. #PurpleReign @COHSFootball @LaVarArrington @RTaylorFBscout @UW_Football pic.twitter.com/1v9RahhHgd

Arrington's father grew up as an athletic sensation in Pittsburgh, played collegiately for Penn State and grew into a 6-foot-3, 257-pound body for the now Washington Commanders and the New York Giants.
It appears that this next-generation Arrington could play either offense or defense.
As a 10th-grader for a 10-1 Charter Oak Chargers team, he spent most of his time at outside linebacker and finished with 35 tackles, including 4.5 for lost yards, and he recovered three fumbles.
His team didn't throw him the ball in 2022, but clearly that could change over his next two high school seasons.
Considering his family lineage, one might expect Penn State and the Los Angeles schools to be in hot pursuit of this kid at some point.
