In this story:

As of this week, the University of Washington preference for a future quarterback is someone from Southern California who stands 6-foot-3 or taller and can really bring it.

An offer first went out to 6-foot-4, 220-pound Jackson Kollock of Laguna Beach High School.

The next one was extended to 6-foot-5, 205-pound Akili Smith Jr. from San Diego's Lincoln High, son of a one-time UW nemesis QB at Oregon.

Now add Madden Iamaleava, a 6-foot-3, 185-pounder from Warren High in Downey, California, who is on his own finally after playing in his older brother's considerable shadow.

On Wednesday, Kalen DeBoer's recruiters, in particular offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb made the offer to Iamaleava, who seems poised to show what he can do as the main guy and is already rated a 4-star prospect.

He's the younger sibling of 6-foot-6, 200-pound Nico Iamaleava, who was rated a 5-star recruit for Warren High this past year, signed with Tennessee and awaiting his freshman season to unfold.

"I feel like he really just laid it all out for me," Madden Iamaleava said to a recruiting site.

The little brother backed up the other during Warren's 9-2 season in 2022, as well as the season before.

Madden Iamaleava completed 31 of 58 passes for 675 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2022, or a score on every third completion, in comparison to Nico, who passed 199 times, hitting on 119 for 1,986 yards and 25 scores as a senior.
