Linebacker Zaydrius Rainey-Sale — the state's top high school football player for 2025 — doesn't waste any time when it comes to making up his mind.

On Jan. 8, the 4-star recruit from Spanaway's Bethel High School committed to the University of Washington within hours of the Huskies playing in the national championship game against Michigan.

Four days later, Rainey-Sale notably de-committed from the program within 60 minutes of the news breaking that coach Kalen DeBoer was leaving the Huskies for Alabama.

On Saturday, the UW and Jedd Fisch's new coaching staff went about trying to re-establish a recruiting connection with this coveted player.

The Huskies re-offered him and he let everyone know about it. While that's not to say he's committed again or he'll ever play for the Huskies for that matter, this was a positive development.

"After a great conversation with Scottie Graham, I'm blessed to say I've been re-offered by UW Football," Rainey-Sale posted on social media, referring to the new Husky running-backs coach who's a former Ohio State and NFL rusher.

As the Huskies try to obtain another oral commitment from the 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker, Rainey-Sale holds a host of scholarship offers from the nation's top schools, among them Alabama, Florida State, Miami, Oregon and Penn State.

Rainey-Sale is not only a high-end linebacker, he represents the symbolic local recruit that went missing during DeBoer's last recruiting efforts.

For what is believed to be the first and only time in school history, the UW had no local scholarship signees when DeBoer revealed 19 new players in December.

Convincing Rainey-Sale to stay home and play for Fisch's staff would go a long way to mollifying a Husky fan base left numb by all of the nonstop coaching and player changes over the past eight days.
