Husky Basketball Extends Offer to 5-star Connecticut Recruit

In this story:
Tyler Betsey has all sorts of Huskies nipping at his heels these days.
There's the national-championship University of Connecticut version, right in his backyard.
Three time zones away, the University of Washington has joined in the hunt.
Betsey is a 6-foot-8 wing from St. Thomas More High School in Windsor, Conn., who recently was designated a 5-star player and has been ranked as high as the No. 12 player in his recruiting class.
He's the Connecticut high school Player of the Year.
UConn, with Danny Hurley turning it into an NCAA titleist, naturally is paying a lot of attention to Betsey, who currently is playing AAU ball for the New York Rens.
On Sunday, the UW became the 27th school to offer him a scholarship.

The attraction to Betsey is he's something that's hard to find — a high-percentage shooter, more often in the 50 percent range than not.
Fundamentally, he has an extremely smooth stroke, which is why schools such as UConn, Duke, Indiana and Kansas have expressed a serious interest in him.
St. Thomas More SF Tyler Betsey is currently ranked No. 58 nationally in the class of 2024, but he could see a bump soon.@travisgrafhoops takes a look at Betsey and four other prospects who could see their ranking move up in the next Rivals150:https://t.co/3GyfUkMKFZ pic.twitter.com/XYRgYpUddw

With Mike Hopkins returning to the UW for a seventh season, following a 16-16 showing in 2022-23, his recruiters continue to mine the upper East Coast for talent.
The Montlake Huskies previously have brought in New Yorkers Isaiah Stewart, Naz Carter and Hamier Wright, all centers and forwards, during Hopkins' time to varying degrees of success.
Whether or not Betsey shows any interest in these perennially rebuilding Huskies, he at least holds an offer from them.
