Cobey Sellers is a 4-star Texas cornerback who toured the University of Washington, accompanied by his mother, who went to school there.

We'll see how well the Huskies work that angle going forward.

Cornerback remains a high-priority position for Kalen DeBoer's recruiting staff, which on Saturday offered Sellers, a 6-foot, 170-pound prospect from Shadow Creek High School in Pearland, near Houston, and the class of 2025.

His lanky size combined with elite speed has made this versatile football player a wanted commodity.

In 2022, Sellers played corner and quarterback for two seasons for Fort Bend Christian Academy, also in the Houston area, and he was a big part of the Eagles' 10-4 season as a sophomore. 

At cornerback in 2022, he piled up 61 tackles, 9 pass break-ups and 2 interceptions, returning one of them 41 yards for a touchdown.

Lining up at quarterback or tailback, Sellers ran 32 times for 325 yards and 9 scores, his longest coming on a 79-yard sprint.

He also went 85 yards with a kickoff return and 45 yards with a punt runback for touchdowns last season.

For good measure, Sellers threw a 25-yard scoring pass after taking a pitch as a tailback.

The Huskies and others have noticed the possibilities with him. Sellers holds a dozen scholarship offers, with Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Baylor Oklahoma, Houston, Oregon and Auburn among the others interested in him. 

Former Husky coach Steve Sarkisian personally offered Sellers a scholarship on behalf of the Longhorns, who go after him aggressively.
