The first Big Ten recruiting test is upon the Washington football team.

Late Thursday night, four-star Riverside High School defensive end Dominic Kirks, a verbal commit to the Huskies in the 2024 recruiting class, received an offer from Michigan State.

Kirks, a 6-foot-5, 250-pound defensive lineman committed to UW on June 30 over Kentucky, Nebraska, Pittsburgh and Wisconsin, his other finalists.

“Chill we still Dawgs around these parts,” Kirks wrote on Instagram after receiving his offer from the Spartans, pouring cold water on thoughts he could back off his pledge.

Kirks is one of four defensive-line commits for UW in this year's class along with Ratumana Bulabalavu from Carlsbad, California, Omar Khan out of Cypress, Texas, and edge rusher Noah Carter from Peoria, Arizona.

Michigan State doesn't have any DL commitments in its 2024 class despite offering three dozen players at the position.

With East Lansing roughly 350 miles from Kirks' home in Cleveland, the Huskies still might be in for a recruiting battle to keep him in the fold.

Kirks transferred to Riverside High School in Plainesville, Ohio, from Villa Angela-St. Joseph where he spent the past two seasons.
