In this story:

Defensive line coach Inoke Breckterfield wants to ensure that he's bringing in a strong, deep class up front. Bridgeland High School defensive tackle Omar Khan, a Texan, is a talented piece to add to Washington's class of 2024.

The 6-foot-5, 270-pound Khan also wrestles at Bridgeland and brings a different type of attitude to the defensive tackle position. Since he currently isn't ranked by the 247 Sports Composite, it's fair to call Khan one of the most underrated players in the class.

Khan boasts 22 offers including Utah, USC, TCU, Arizona and California. He took official visits to both Arizona and Cal earlier in the month of June before deciding to commit to Washington during his trip to Seattle.

On film, there's a lot to like about Khan. He's a super fluid mover for his size and plays with easy, natural strength as a pass rusher. His arsenal of pass-rush moves consists only of a long-arm move that keeps interior offensive linemen away from his chest and hand fighting is something that Washington's coaching staff has shown to excel at developing.

As a run defender, Khan uses his background as a wrestler to hold his ground firmly while also consistently getting a great jump off the snap. He excels at shooting gaps and wrapping up ball carriers in the backfield before a play has time to develop.

Khan will almost certainly see a huge rise in the rankings this summer and over the course of his senior season. This is a big win for Kalen DeBoer and his staff, as he has all the makings of a productive defensive tackle at the college level.

I've followed the Huskies for my entire life, and to be in a position where I get to cover them full-time is nothing short of an honor. After graduating from Lasell University in 2019, I moved to Seattle to pursue my dream of working in sports media. While writing for the Husky Haul, I also covered local sports for the Everett Daily Herald before the COVID-19 pandemic. After being hired by Realdawg.com in February of 2021, I also transitioned into doing a lot of entertainment writing, as I work on a variety of magazines as a contributing writer for Centennial Media, and have also contributed to Emmy Magazine, as well as Walt Disney Television Studios.
