In this story:

Deyvid Palepale was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, before his family moved him to Landisville, Pa., where he's spent his formative high school years so far.

A touted defensive lineman, this 6-foot-3, 303-pound prospect announced shortly before Christmas he would play his senior year at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

This past week, Kalen DeBoer's University of Washington football recruiters offered Palepale a scholarship, one of 17 he holds.

The challenge for the Huskies is to talk this kid from the Class of 2024 into retracing his steps back to the West Coast, no easy chore considering Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame each made scholarship offers right alongside the UW's.

"Them being on the national stage and to recruit me is insane," Palepale said after his flurry of offers.

Palepale leaves a 9-3 Hempfield High School playoff team in Landisville that's located 395 miles due east of Columbus and and Ohio State in order to take his game and recruiting attention up a notch.

While his 2022 defensive stats weren't readily available, Palepale is athletic enough to have thrown the discus 115 feet and one inch and put the shot 39-1.

Good news for the Huskies, this well-traveled, transcontinental lineman said distance would not be a factor in him choosing a college football program.
