Washington Grants California DL First Offer

In this story:
Scholarship offers going out three years in advance are incredibly rare. Under the Chris Petersen regime at Washington, those offers were reserved for players of J.T. Tuimoloau and Emeka Egbuka's caliber.
After the University of Redlands camp, 2027 defensive line prospect Montana Toilolo reported that he received his first scholarship from the Huskies, even though he hasn't taken a snap at the high school level just yet. He's set to attend one of the best high school football programs in the country this fall, Mater Dei, located in Santa Ana, California.
Toilolo also became the sixth prospect in the class of 2027 to receive an offer from Washington. That group includes one local prospect, Eastside Catholic linebacker Liufau Loumoli and the brother of a former Husky defensive back, West Linn cornerback Josiah Molden.
All praises to the Most High. After a great @UofRedlands camp. I am blessed & honored to receive my 1st D1 offer from the University of Washington! Thank you coach @CoachNokesDL for the opportunity! @WilliamInge1 @BigsJuice @MDFootball @KTalavou @OLCoachCam @NoaPouono pic.twitter.com/vuLPY3Mkuz

On film, Toilolo shows all the makings of a future star. At 6-3, 250 pounds, he's a very fluid mover for his age and size on both sides of the ball. He lines up all over the defensive line, as well as at right tackle.
His future is certainly on the defensive side of the ball though, as his athleticism pops when he's rushing the passer. As he continues to grow, there's a good chance he turns into a defensive tackle, where he could end up wreaking havoc in what's arguably the toughest high school league in the country.
Toilolo already knows how to use his frame's natural power to go through interior offensive linemen and has a quick first step to go along with that power. As he gets into high school and continues to grow, he shows all the signs of a top 50-100 prospect by the time his senior year rolls around.

I've followed the Huskies for my entire life, and to be in a position where I get to cover them full-time is nothing short of an honor. After graduating from Lasell University in 2019, I moved to Seattle to pursue my dream of working in sports media. While writing for the Husky Haul, I also covered local sports for the Everett Daily Herald before the COVID-19 pandemic. After being hired by Realdawg.com in February of 2021, I also transitioned into doing a lot of entertainment writing, as I work on a variety of magazines as a contributing writer for Centennial Media, and have also contributed to Emmy Magazine, as well as Walt Disney Television Studios.
