West Virginia Cracks the Top 25

The Mountaineers are in the national rankings after a series sweep against UCF

West Virginia broke into the top 25 for the first time this season on Monday, climbing to No. 22 in D1Baseball’s poll, ranked 21st by Perfect Game and 18th in Baseball America’s rankings.

The Mountaineers improved to 22-13 and 11-4 in the Big 12 Conference after an exciting series sweep against the nationally ranked UCF Knights in Morgantown over the weekend and remain atop the Big 12 Conference standings and are currently riding a seven-game conference winning streak. Oklahoma is also 11-4 in conference play, but West Virginia holds the tiebreaker after taking two games from the Sooners in Norman nearly a month ago.

West Virginia is one of three Big 12 teams currently ranked. Oklahoma State comes in at No. 15 in Perfect Game and D1Baseball and Baseball America placed the Cowboys 17th, while Oklahoma is ranked 25th by Baseball America.

The Mountaineers are back in action Tuesday night at Kendrick Family Ballpark in the Backyard Brawl against Pitt. The first pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. and the action will stream on ESPN+.
